The pocketknife was thought to be lost until a cutler who is friends with PassionFrance® discovered it a few years ago and then manufactured it first in Laguiole and now in Marcillac. He shot a video about its use in the vineyard and a special knot to tie the vines. The word "liadou" means in the old Occitan language, which is partly still spoken here, "tool for binding".
The technique of this knot is unique and from this the knife got its name. When the twentieth century began to tie up vines with wire and plastic, it was forgotten along with the old knotting technique.
The blade of the LIADOU is wide and strong with a slightly downward pointing tip, the handle is ergonomic and elegant at the same time. Together we have created a model whose handles made of old barrique oak have taken on their typical red colour from years of storage with red wine, thus showing the peculiarity of its origin.
LIADOU are made in either Laguiole or Marcillac. As a sign of their authenticity, they therefore have the D’ALBRAC or LE LIADOU DE VALON trademark on the blade.
