Parapluie

The roots of the PARAPLUIE A L'EPREUVE brand go back six generations to the year 1819, when the first of Pierre Therias's great-grandfathers registered the "PARAPLUIE À L'EPREUVE" brand in Clermont-Ferrand. The family tells the story that the brand name was actually a coincidence, because when the boss left home that morning in 1819 to visit his notary in Clermont-Ferrand, it was pouring rain. When he arrived, he asked what name his brand should have and then Monsieur Therias looked at his umbrella, which had protected him all the way, and said: "PARAPLUIE À L'EPREUVE", it should be called like my faithful protector.

From small beginnings, a successful forge developed in which a large number of regional knives for PassionFrance® were forged.

Over the generations, the Therias family acquired several brands from other blacksmiths, including the LAGUIOLE brand "ROSSIGNOL", the oldest of the LAGUIOLE brands still in production in 2015. The specialty are LAGUIOLE "à l’ancien", authentic LAGUIOLE of the old design, as they were sold in the markets.
