The SOMMELIER is not a classic LAGUIOLE knife in the precise sense or for purists. LAGUIOLES often included corkscrews and then were called, with a wink, "couteaux à survie", survival knives, but the spirals were small due to the construction, which is why in the 1980s the Forge de Laguiole was inspired to develop a "waiter's knife" with the high elegance of a Laguiole that would meet the requirements of professional sommeliers. We presented it to the DESIGN+ contest and it was immediately accepted. More awards followed and today it is an indispensable companion for wine lovers.
In addition to a large, long corkscrew spiral, the SOMMELIER has a stand for the neck of the bottle and a blade for cutting capsules. The blades can be pointed and curved for professional use or, for private use, include a décapsuler for bottles with crown caps in addition to a curved, serrated edge.
