The pocketknife L’AGENAIS [a.ʒə.nɛ] takes its name from the town of Agen, located on the banks of the Garonne, for which it is the traditional knife and from where it gained the entire south of France. Upon their return from the Orient, the Crusaders brought back the Yatagan Blade, hitherto unknown in Europe. Together with the “jambette”-shape of the handle, it gives the knife its special character.
In Bergerac, only 80 km away and famous for its cigars and tobaccos, people use its brother, the SAINT-AMANS, with moulded rosettes for the tobacco harvest. The profile gives the knife a distinctive design and the hand a more firm hold because the juice that escaped from the cut surfaces makes the knife slippery.
Both knives we produce in our atelier in Thiers with care. As a sign of its traditional roots and authenticity, it presents on the blade the PassionFrance® emblem, the Coq.
